The first car that I bought was a 1995 Mitsubishi Gallant. The car had a recall noticed placed on it and unfortunately I did not get my notice in time. I was involved in a severe car accident because the front axle ball joint snapped. Had I gotten the recall notice in time, the error could have been fixed for about $100 dollars. Luckily that is one tough car! I hit a guard rail head on going about 65 MPH the car was totaled, but I walked away with just a scratch on my arm from the air bag. I was mad about the accident, but the insurance paid to have the car replaced and for the damage done to the guard rail. I donated what was left of the car to the state police to show kids why wearing a seatbelt can save your life.
I had a 96 dodge intrepid which had a charging problem but it was different than any charging problem I had ever scene before. It actually was overcharging the battery. As a matter of a fact, one day it over charged the battery so much that the battery actually blew up. It sounded like a bomb went off in my car. I had just sat in it and was going to start it when the battery went kaboom. I still have the dent in the hood where the battery blew. I had to replace the battery and the entire charging system. The whole event was scary and kind of a learning experience.
It was our brand new first car and we were waiting to take a break and go in for a long drive. We decided to go to Pondicherry about 130 kms from Chennai by the ECR Road. The drive was excellent and we enjoyed stopping midway for a snack and continued again. Finally we reached Pondy in the afternoon and went to my husband’s friend’s place which was in Pondy before we planned to check-in in a resort we had already booked. We had a chat with them and they promised to come next day to the resort to see us. We told we would see the next morning and my husband had put the indicator correctly as per the rule and was about to take a U-turn and from nowhere came a two-wheeler on a very high speed and banged straight on to the front end edge of our car and the person who was sitting at the back on the two wheeler jumped on the car’s front mirror and rested his knees on the windshield that’s it. Everything happened in matter of seconds and the fibre in the front glass got broken, luckily no glass particles came inside the car and we had our four year old daughter also with us then. The traffic police came and registered a case against the two wheeler person since he had not followed the rules and was driving rashly. Anyway that didn’t make a difference to us. Since our whole vacation was spoilt we had to stay in the resort itself for the next two days and we arranged a driver to drive back to our place and finally we got the insurance claim and repaired the car, but that was a bitter experience and it always stays in our mind fresh even today.
That particular day I was just entering into a gas station to fill my tank. I handed over he key to the filler boy and just I looked for the initiating zero in the pumping machine and was paid attenstion elsewhere. Just then another filler girl who was atanding by the side alerted the boy shouting that he is pumping diesel into my petrol car. The filler boy gave a staring look at the girl for pointing out this grave mistake he was doing and was still pumping . Immediately I got alert and told himto stop. The girl quietly moved away from the scene. I called the gas station owner to rectify the fault. He arranged another person to drain my tank and refill with petrol. if that girl would not have into the picture on that day my new car would have had a major breakdown which would have resulted in huge expenses and mental agony. The did not even regret for the mistake.
When I was in degree first year, I and all of my cousins went out by our car without our parent’s permission. We went little far away from our city .my cousin was driving the car, he was driving very fastly………. While returning from there, one of the car’s tyres got puncher …. We people was blinking and don’t know what to do…it was getting too late and also became evening 7’o clock….. My dad started to make call, I was breaking the call and finally I attended his call and lied that I was in my friend’s house for group study... and the whole night we stayed there itself … and then next day very early morning my cousin went and brought a mechanic and he replaced some other tyre and then we came home safely …. Even now if we think about that incident means we will feel laughing…………………………….
My first car, purchased when I was a senior in high school, was a used 1992 Honda. It cost $800 ran great looked great Iloved this car i was free to go were evr i wanted.I was rear-ended. Technically, the car was totaled but it was still driveable, so I cashed the $800 insurance check.Oh i miss that car we had alot of great times.
My best friends name was Nelly. She was one of those friends that could never be replaced. Others try but always fall short. You see Nelly was always there for me. She took an occasional sick day but for the most part you could always count on Nelly being there. She held me when I cried and raced with me when life was good. She was there for my good dates and for my bad dates. Nelly was starting to get a little old when I first met my husband but that didn't matter. I knew when he loved her as much as I did that we were a match made it heaven. You see Nelly wasn't just your ordinary friend. Nelly was my brown 4 door Ford Escort. It was the kind of car you look over when you first walk through the lot. There was no flash, no frills but the price is right so you try it out. You buy the car because it fits your needs and then something special happens. You realize you can depend on that old escort. Whenever and wherever you are. It doesn't take long to realize you have more than just a car, you have a friend.
We had a Maruthi car last year.My brother liked that car very much.First he wanted
to travel in that car to a holy city.So we all decided to visit the near by place. One fine morning we boarded the car.We neared the city around morning elevan o' clock.Suddenly one of the four tyres got punctured. If we go late we may miss an important puja.
Actually my brother is not a person believing god.He started to curse us all saying that he would have gone to his friend's house in the next state if this programme was not planned. As time passed we couldn't get any help as we are new that place.I started to pray to the presiding deity of that place. After an hour of impatient waiting god answered our prayer.
A white esteem car came near us and a gentle man got down from the car just enquired if we were in need of help.A big broad smile crossed my bro's face.He extended his hand to get himself introduced. They both planned to get the machanic's help. The stranger readily took my father to a near by repair shop to bring a help. They both returned after an hour with a machanic. The tyre was fixed easily and we proceeded towards the temple.
The stranger gave his name which actually shocked us.He uttered the name of the presiding deity of the temple to whom we were going to get the blessings. This incident completely changed my brother's idea about god, temple and offerings. We still feel that because of that esteem car our brother changed his ideas to coopoerate with us.
I had a 1999 Honda CRV.I loved it and had gotten it with very low miles. My plan was to have it for a very long time. The ride was wonderful and smooth and it was good on gas mileage.About two months after I aquired the car,I was to return to work from maternity leave. This was a cold and rainy day during the first week of March. As I got closer to my job,I noticed that the roads were becoming badly flooded.I saw cars approaching slowly, yet being able to navigate through the water. It was beginning to resemble small ocean waves. The cars I saw were smaller than mine and certainly lower to the ground. So I figured I would be okay to continue forward slowly.Well,I was wrong.Apparently there was a large dip in the road ahead. Before I knew it my car stalled and water was flooding in through the dashboard.By the time I was able to get out of my car,The water was already covering my seats.I had to wade through freezing cold water, with my dog in tow to get to work. The water was waist high, just to give you an idea-I am 5'10."When I looked back all I could see was the windshield of my car.I was on the news that day because of this.I lost my beloved car that day.
I owned a Chevy Blazer years ago. I needed to go to my parents house and decided to take the rural route instead of the highway. It was a good thing that I did! While driving, I felt something strange happening with the vehicle so I pulled over. Right when I did, my back tire fell off and my axle dropped to the ground! Luckily I was not driving on the highway or I would of probably been killed. AAA was able to give me a tow. The mechanic that last serviced my vehicle was not a happy camper after I was done speaking with him.
When I was 18 years old, I went to a police auction in a major city on the east coast. We had a day to look over the cars, then the next day we would bid on them at a different site. I found a 65 Mustang coupe for my sister with an automatic transmission and jotted down the lot number. The next day I bid on the car and won the bid at 190 dollars. The following day I went to pick it up and told the officer that I was there to pick up lot 86. He checked the paper work and told me I had not bid on lot 86 but instead lot 68, oops. With great fear I walked up and down the aisles of hundreds of cars till I found lot 68. What I found sent chills down my spine. Sitting before me was a 1965 Mustang Fastback with a 289 hi-performance engine, a 4 speed transmission and a nine inch rear axle. This is the exact same package that the Shelby 350 had and less than a 500 of these Mustangs were ever made. This was the best deal I have ever made.
Don't you hate worrying, when you buy a new... or new to you vehicle, that your new ride is going to get scratched, or a door ding. you park way out at the end of the lot, angle park where its not really angle parking to keep others doors away.
my new used truck got hit HARD in a parking lot, less than a week after i got it. big dent near the top of the tailgate, one spot almost cut through the sheet metal. i figure it must have been a BIG truck, some piece of equipment like a fork truck. its all good though, I'm not bothered much by the dent. you see this truck was no prize, 300k +miles, rust, dents, looked like an old beater. one of the problems was that you could hardly close the tailgate, and if you did it was even harder to open. now after getting hit the tailgate opens and closes like a dream, i couldn't have fixed it better if i tried.
One day i was driving around the city in my honda accord with my dog in the passenger seat. Suddenly she decided to vomit and it went into the aird conditioning vent. Everytime I turned on the air it smelled like vomit.
I had just gone to a concert in Philadelphia and had parked my car in a parking garage. After teh concert when we got back to my car we got in and started driving away. But something was wrong my car didn't feel right. We ended up missing our turn for the highway and pulled over at some gas station and we had a flat tire. We got the help from some people in the neighborhood and changed the tire. We got home at about 3 in the morning from the whole ordeal adn when we woke up the next morning and my other front tire was flat as well.
Many moons ago I had a roommate that won tickets to an upcoming rock concert. She decided she would take me (probably because I had a car) The night of the concert we drove to the local radio station to pick up our tickets and ride on the station's 'party bus'. I parked my car by the bus station and we excitedly headed to the radio station. We had a great time, lots of laughs, great music and we met several nice people. When the concert was over we all boarded the 'party bus' and back home we went. When we got back to where the car was it was gone. We walked around the block to be sure... but it was gone. Stuck with no ride home at midnight in a not so great neighborhood. We went back to the radio station and explained our plight. We ended up hanging out with the DJ until my father could come pick us up after he got off work. I got a call from the impound lot 3 weeks later. I went to rescue my car but it was missing the drivers' side door, the tires, the battery and the front seat. I signed the title over and we called it even. What started out being a good time wasn't so great after all.
Just in time for Cash for Clunkers
I had been driving a 1991 Ford Explorer that I loved. It had several problems and my husband kept saying that I needed to get a new car. I didn't mind that the check engine light was on or that the odometer did not work or that the passenger window did not roll down. As long as it drove it was fine with me. Then the Cash for Clunkers program came along and my husband pushed me harder to get a new car. We looked but I would not give in. One Wednesday night on the way home, my car began making a noise. Again, as long as it drove I was fine. There was no smoke and it wasn't too loud of a noise. This noise continued until Friday night. I was at a stop light and the noise stopped. I thought well thats a good sign. As I went to turn thats when I realized the power steering did not work anymore. That was the deciding factor in getting another car. The next morning, my husband drove it, smoking and without power steering to the dealer and I bought a new car with the cash for clunkers program.
My first car was a used 1984 Nissan Pulsar that my parents bought be for my high school graduation. I normally used the same type of gas in the car, except one day I filled it up at a different gas station, that was a big mistake. When I got home and parked my car in the driveway, the car would not stop shaking, it made the worst noise and was shaking for about 20 seconds, I thought that the car was going to explode. It was only the different type of gas that made it shake like this, I never went to that gas station agian.
When I was just starting college, my grandfather bought me a car called an NSU Prinz. It was supposedly manufactured by the lawnmower division of Volkswagen and it was red. It had two little bucket seats in the front and a bench in the back that could cram in three small teenage girls. It was a manual transmission with the engine in the back and the gear shift was the size of a small dust mop handle.
I made the mistake of parking on fraternity row one day. When I came out of classes, some of the "brothers" had easily lifted the car and placed in on top of a tree stump. I didn't think it was very funny, but they of course were laughing uproariously. Just as easily, three or four of them took pity on me and lifted the car off the tree stump and back onto the street.
One day the engine caught fire and that was the end of the little red NSU Prinz.
I was driving from Corvallis, Oregon to Ashland, Oregon on a very rainy evening. I had done the drive many times before, even in these same conditions. This time I was about half way there and I felt a sneeze come on, it seems to me that whenever you sneeze you can’t seem to keep your eyes open during the sneeze. When at that moment my 1998 Ford Taurus ran over what I believe to be a tree trunk or a huge piece of log that was in the middle of the highway. I was hoping that my tire would not go flat, but soon I felt my car veer to the right. I got out and changed my tire, this was the first time I had changed a tire, I am glad the donut did not fall on the way home.
I recently started hearing this noise while traveling on the interstate to a friends house. There is never a great time to have car trouble and it always occurs when you have to be somewhere important or your planning on traveling out of town soon. This noise was not evident when I was traveling at speeds under 50 or 55mph. I finally broke down and when to an automotive shop and they looked at the and said the tires were shot. On top of that wonderful bill they also said my rear brakes were around 90 percent gone, the radiator needed to be flushed, the serpentine belt was about to go. I thought that was just great, in addition to about $400 dollars of tires they were also recommending around $1200 in additional work that "had" to be done. I got them to change the tires and with the help of a relative I changed the brakes myself as well as the serpentine belt. The radiator turned out to be fine. I did all this at a fraction of the cost, the parts ran me less than $100. I will admit you would be best off to have a good jack, not that one in the back of the car and some patience. The breaks are best done one at the time so you can refer to the other one if you happen to not remember exactly how it went together. It was rather never raking when I backed up for the first time and press the foot on the breaks I just installed - but they held and are still doing great. What a wonderful sense of accomplishment.
My very first car was a blue Dodge Daytona it was a pretty fast little car. I loved my car it never gave me any real problem except the normal things oil change tune ups. Well I had my car for like five years and it was still running smoothly. This one particular day I dropped my son off to school like I did everyday know problems. When I went to pick him up I stopped by the store around the corner from the school everything was fine, but when I left the store I was smelling something and I wasn't sure what it was, but I was low on gas and I thought for sure I had more then that. When I got to my sons school my car killed and my needle was on E I saw a parent that have a lawn service and he gave me a little gas so that I could get to the gas station my car started back up. I made it to the gas station and filled it up then we were on our way. It started pouring down raining and we were almost home and we got to the last light when my car killed again and I started it back up and I pulled in the back of the apartment building where we lived I was going to park it there instead of usual spot. Before I could turn into parking space the front of my car caught on fire and the only thing I could do was grab my son and run. Even though it was pouring down raining I still needed the fire department to come out and put the fire out.
My first car was a 1988 Nissan Sentra. I owned the car for a good while and then she finally died after the transmission went out. Even though she was known as the p.o.s car she was my car and I loved her to death. I had my first experiences with driving in that car and she will always be remembered for that very reason. Many people make fun of me because she was not a brand new pretty car so to speak. But that did not matter to me. She got me to where I needed to go. Went to school, to work, out with friends, and even the late night wandering around the city. I got myself lost a few times. I also remember a time when I was pregnant with my son. I always got pulled over by the cops because I look like I am I am just a young teen. Even though in reality I am a lot older. I just got off work and I was feeling sick to my stomach so I was just trying to get home. Well I got pulled over by the police officer and he asked me to step out of the vehicle. Apparently he thought I was under age and was asking why I was out so late and etc. Right when I was about to hand him my id I ended up getting sick. I got the entire front of him. I felt so bad. After that happened he just looked at me and told me to go home. Later that week the same thing happened. I got pulled over once again and it turned out to be the same police officer along with one of the police officers that came into my store a lot. The police officer that came into my store a lot said that I would not have anymore problems with the others pulling me over thinking that I was underage. From that day forward not a single cop in the town pulled me over. They saw my car and they pretty much just turned the other cheek. Unfortunately now the same thing is happening all over again. The 88 Nissan made sure I never got stopped. I really do miss that car.
I was having Honda city car, which I like very much because of its color. My car color is black which my one of my favorite color is. but I had many opposes towards that color of car that I am buying in my home every one said don’t buy black color it is not an lucky car like that every one said but as I like I bought black color only after a long argument . We all went family trip to ooty first time in my car me only drive we went to many places. That is the first time I went that much distance with my family for self drive. I enjoyed because of self drive and we went to many places there. I had more fear because that was the first hill station I am going by self drive I had fear while driving at hair pin bends but I had confidence that I can, I did. And we returned back safely. we had an fabulous trip.
I recently had an influx of mechanical problems with my car. The brakes needed work, the exhaust needed to be replaced, the alternator died on me. The latest problem was my power steering, which quick working on one very stressful drive home from work. The next day, at my wit's end, I took my car back to the mechanic, begging him to please, please, please fix any and everything else that was wrong with my car, here and now. They worked on my car for several hours, handed over a staggeringly large bill, which I paid through clenched teeth. I got in my car and pulled out into heavy afternoon traffic to head home. Two miles down the road, my car stalls.... I can't get it started. Dodging traffic, a nice man helped me push my car over to the edge of the road, out of harm's way and I sit silently for a moment, in disbelief. I chronicle all the recent repairs I've had on this car, how could it betray me like this?! I try the key again, hoping it will work... Nothing. The nice man who helped me move my car leans against my window and says, "Miss, I think you're out of gas?"
Silence. No... I couldn't be out of gas. No way. My car was just failing yet again. Right...? I think back to the last time I filled my gas tank....
Hmm. Realization starts to dawn on me and I start laughing to myself, the poor Nice Man watching me as if I'm a crazy person. I tell him, yes, I was probably out of gas, but I would take care of it. I walked to the gas station, purchased a single gallon of gas in a little red can, and walked back to my car.
The car started without a hitch. I silently apologized to it and drove on my way.
I have a interesting little bit of story about my 86 firebird. My windows would not roll down for the life of me. So I wondered if the switch was bad. So I found all the wires and figured out which one was positive and which one was negative. I rigged cables from the batter to supply the postive posts i installed inside the cab. Then I wired the negitive post inside the cab to the frame. I took the two window wires and placed them on the posts, nothing. Thing is switched them and the windows rolled down. I thought to myself, at least the window motors work. Later that day I tried finding the replacement switches to no avail. So instead of just putting the wires back, I let them hang so when I needed the windows to move, i just jumped the posts. People thought my car was a fire trap but it worked. It also got the nickname screaming chicken of doom due to the wiring and how loud the car was, even with a tail pipe. I hope you enjoyed the story. Thank you
I had a chevy cavalier and the other day when I was going to work I pulled out of my drive way and pushed on the gas and all of a sudden my car just stopped, almost like I just slammed on the brake but then my car revved up really high and started going. It scared me a little because I was pulling out onto a fairly busy road.
We once purchased a car recommended by a consumer magazine. The magazine accurately reflected the car's small rear seat space but ah, this was just the beginning. The car had an air conditioning flaw that made water pour out through the glove compartment. Though a record of this flaw existed on the internet, amazingly, the company did not provide any sort of coverage for this defect...our own water fountain in this junk until the day we got rid of it. This was a Mitsubishi, 2002, Galant.
